“I travelled with 15 ladies from the Mollymook Golf Club on March 29 and 30 to compete in the Far South Coast and Tablelands District Golf Association's annual tournament at Bermagui Golf Club,” Bennett said.
“I was able to come from six shots back on the second day - carding a 76 to win by one shot from Casey Cook of Tura Beach 157 to 158 gross.
“I had the pleasure of receiving The Snowy Mountain Cup along with The Mrs P.O. Mitchell Bowl.
“In the nett, with a score of 149, I received the WGNSW Golden Jubilee Trophy and in the team nett, I also had a win with Judi Schnoor and Janet Furnell – who both played well.
“I've come a long way and one of my goals for 2017 was to win at Bermagui, so that’s another box ticked.”
Bennett, who is also a member of the Illawarra Golf Association being a member at Kiama, is the current Illawarra Girls District champion and Kiama Junior Girls champion - which she successfully defended from the year before.
On top of that, she currently holds the Cronulla Junior Girls Masters title and the Catalina Junior Girls Open title, but Bennett has already set her eyes on more silverware in the near future.
“I travel to Forster and Taree in early May to try out for the NSW schools team, which if I make again this year, will see me make a trip to Adelaide later in the year,” she said.
“I am the defending Mollymook Ladies Open champion too – it's a tough competition with lots of good golfers competing, so it would be great to win for the second time – especially considering it’s my home course.
“This is followed by the Mollymook Club Championship also in May.
“In July I have the NSW Junior Championships at the Central Coast, before I have the Jack Newton Srixon International Junior Classic - a four day tournament with lots of overseas competitors in October.”
Despite all this, Bennett continues to work hard each week, chasing her ultimate goal.
“I practise three times a week after school and play most weekends, either travelling to a Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) competition, Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) competition or other junior or ladies golf competition,” she said.
“Failing that, I play in the competitions at the Mollymook Golf Club whenever possible – while also visiting my coach Shaun O'Toole at the Kiama Golf Club once a fortnight.
“I’m trying to get into a Sydney club this year and intend to keep competing in golfing tournaments to improve my rankings.
“With lots of dedication, my ultimate goal is to play on the European Tour.”
