Females aged 18 to 24 are eligible to enter the competition, which aims to find a young lady to represent the district.
Milton Showgirl coordinator Angela Brook said judges would be looking for a lady with ambitions and goals and knowledge of the area.
“They are looking for someone who can act as an ambassador for the Milton-Ulladulla district,” she said.
“Entrants don’t have to still live here, they can be away working or studying. They only have to be available for one day in February for judging.”
The Milton Show has run the contest for more than 50 years, and committee members want to keep it going strong into the future.
“The showgirl competition, like its name, is very traditional but we are trying to keep it up-to-date with this generation,” Ms Brook said.
“It is all about having fun, getting involved and choosing the best entrant to represent young ladies of this community.
“The more entrants we have, the better the event will be.”
Winners will win $1000, as well as other vouchers and gifts. The runner-up gets $250, plus gifts and vouchers.
All entrants receive a gift.
