A forum will be held in Ulladulla for cancer patients, carers, family members, friends or professionals to provide feedback on the issues they face in regards to cancer care.
The Shoalhaven Cancer Care Network will give a brief presentation on the development of the Shoalhaven Cancer Centre.
Ulladulla Rotary Programme Organiser Glenn Rowen said members of the public were invited to provide input on the night.
“(Everyone) is invited to engage in discussion that will lead to improvements for the benefit of all people touched in any way by cancer in the future,” he said.
“The night will be a chance for people from all walks of life to comment on their experiences of cancer and the issues facing those who are dealing with it, either as patients, carers, friends or professionals.”
Mr Rowen said the community needed to be aware the event was being held in Ulladulla.
“What they say will make a difference,” he said.
“It will enable people to have an input into future projects for the benefit of those with cancer.”
There will be group and general discussions as well as information on the current services available.
Milton-Ulladulla Cancer Outpatients Appeal president Peter Still said he would like to see more cancer diagnostic services in the area.
“I would like to see an expansion of services and cancer treatment for the Milton-Ulladulla region,” he said.
“It would be great if they could perform some sort of diagnosis service here so people didn’t have to travel outside of the area to get a cancer diagnosis.
“Maybe a CT scanner or whatever they may need to use could be purchased and installed here.”
Mr Still hoped the community provided good feedback at the forum.
“It’s a chance for the community to express what they need or would like to see in the area regarding cancer services,” he said.
The forum will be held in the Dunn Lewis Centre, Ulladulla, on Wednesday, June 7 at 6.45pm.
It will follow a combined dinner meeting of the Rotary and Lions Clubs, who have helped organise the community discussion.
