ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball will speak about the state of the licensed club industry at the information session, to be held on Thursday, October 19 at the Ulladulla Civic Centre.
Members of the two clubs are being urged to attend to ask questions and understand the merger proposal before voting in late 2017.
“This is a transparent process, and we’ve been holding member information sessions every week since the merger proposal was announced,” Bowling Club secretary manager Michael O’Sullivan said.
“This session is particularly important, as members will hear from external experts about the financial position of both clubs, the legal implications of the merger, and the challenges facing the licensed club industry across NSW.”
Under the proposal, the amalgamated club would manage the Bowling Club and ExServos Club operations and both current club sites would continue to operate as they currently do.
Members of the two clubs would become members of the amalgamated entity and all staff would be offered similar employment.
ExServos secretary manager Darryl Bozicevic said merging the boards and administration of the clubs would ensure the Milton-Ulladulla community had “the best in local club facilities and activities now and in the future”.
“The licensed club industry has never faced more challenges, with the community having many other options for leisure and entertainment including online,” he said.
“ClubsNSW tells us that 114 of the state’s clubs have closed in the past ten years. This merger will ensure we have a strong and sustainable club operating two successful club premises that have long-term viability.”
The meeting will begin at 6.30pm on Thursday, October 19 at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, on the Princes Highway.
