The Good Food Guide, first launched in 1979, recognises excellence in culinary fare. 

“Our reviewers arrive at restaurants unannounced and pay for their own meals," Good Food Guide editor Myffy Rigby said. 

“We’re stringent when it comes to judging, assessing service, ambiance, X-factor and most importantly, the food.”

St. Isidore’s retained their one-hat rating for the third consecutive year, first receiving the honour in 2016. 

“Three years in a row. Who’d bloody believe it?” chef and owner Alex Delly said on Instagram. 

“We are becoming a real food destination, it’s not just about the beaches,” St. Isidore chef and owner Alex Delly said to The Times last year. 

“We grow all of our own herbs, lettuce and as much as we can really. We get all of our seafood locally too.

“Local is definitely better. If it’s local it’s going to taste better.”

Good Food Guide reviewers commended the restaurant on their “sunshine bathed dining room [that] feels relaxed and casual, with friendly, sharp service. 

“Equal parts clever and classic, the menu offers consistent proof that proper seasonal, local produce and well-honed techniques are an unbeatable combination.”

However, it wasn’t all glory for the region as Rick Stein at Bannisters lost their one hat rating, attained in 2016.

The restaurant received a 14.5/20 rating, half a point shy of one hat. 

“We’d like to have had a hat, but, it happens like that,” Bannisters marketing director Annie Cochrane said. 

“All of the restaurants are achieving in various awards and we are all doing fantastic things, just in different areas. We like to have hats in our area and Alex [Delly] is doing fantastic things. 

“If you want to have a good seafood meal then you come to us, we uphold Rick’s [Stein] mantra of good seafood, simply cooked.” 

Cupitt’s Winery did not regain their hat, last held in 2016, with a 14/20 rating.
