Last Saturday the Dockers travelled with 15 players to take on the ladder leaders University Bulldogs at Keira Oval in the Gong. University boasted a full team of 22 players and looked very confident pre game!
Well, the Dockers had a different view of proceedings on the day. The Dockers were first to every contest, hard at the ball, using smart options to a point that university had no answer for them.
Clough played his best game this season followed by Neil, Haub, Donohue and Gatt. Other players to step up where Ricketts, Ledger, Thompson, Ryan, Beer, N.Donohue, McCabe, Swanson and fill-in of the week, Doug.
The score was tight and the lead changed several times over the first three quarters and it was only the last quarter that saw injuries to Thompson and Ryan that enabled the Bulldogs to marginally take the lead. Dockers kicked a few minors and in the end went down by 5 points.
It’s now time to get back on the track and show what the word team means. New players to the club or old players returning to the club, now is the time. Get back to training Tuesday and Thursday 6pm and let’s see what this year can be for a full strength Dockers.
We have a week off this week due to representative junior football.
