Adam Dickson was found guilty by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming of assault, placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond and fined $1000.
“You were her partner at a holiday home and there was an argument, probably a silly argument in retrospect,” Magistrate Fleming said.
“You slapped her across the face. Absolutely appalling. It’s shameful.”
Magistrate Fleming made note of Dickson’s character references and said they appear to “speak of a different person”, something she said was not uncommon for domestic violence (DV) offences.
“DV is frequently something not seen by someone else,” she said. “Of all people she should be able to trust you not to assault her.”
