The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.
Established in 2012, the day also reflects girls’ successes.
Meet some of the successful girls from the Milton-Ulladulla district.
Ivy Lawson and Catee Morrison
It is not every day two primary school girls begin a charity and donate $650 for a stranger’s injured 11-year-old staffy called Polly.
Ivy Lawson and Catee Morrison from Milton Public School made the decision to form a foundation called Fat Cat to help pay for expensive vet fees for companion pets of the elderly.
To raise money the girls host lemonade stands, cake stalls, garage sales and guessing competitions.

Brea Holland is taking children on magical musical journeys through her world of daydreams.
The teenager from Ulladulla has taken steps towards being a children’s entertainer, launching her own website and YouTube Channel, Brea Likes to Daydream.
In early 2017, Brea set her sights on the bright lights of Sydney and, along with her family, moved to begin her senior high school years at the Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School.
