“We have finally recorded some of our own tunes and we are extremely excited to share our songs with the world,” singer Ben McInerney said.
“On the night we’ll be performing our CD in full and then bringing the party for the rest of the night with some of our favourite jams.”
The group bears the namesake of Ben and guitarist Tim Thomson's relationship as brother-in-laws.
In early 2016 the two teamed up with well known Ulladulla bassist, Gary Yates and Morton drummer, Wade Henry to form the band.
“It’s funny because we have known each other for years,” Ben said.
“Gary actually taught me to play bass guitar when I was younger; he gave me music lessons.
“Timmy and I have always played music together. We were in punk bands when we were younger and now whenever we are together we’re either playing music or talking music.
“Now we’ve all come together and we’ve making some epic tunes.”
The quartet, who have more than 50 years experience of playing live music across the country, have been booked solid for their 18-month life.
“We took a mini hiatus over the winter months and finally had the time to lay down some of our own tracks,” Ben said.
“The community has been so good to us and we are stoked to be a part of such great local music scene here.”
Ben’s song writing has been tried and tested having guided indie band, New Navy to Triple J Hottest 100 fame with the song Zimbabwe in 2011, and playing to packed crowds at key summer festivals like Field Day.
Now, slinking from cutesy folk to rasta-reggae grooves, the four-piece say their sole purpose of playing music is to get people on their feet and headed straight to the dance-floor.
“Our style is a mix of folk, rock and reggae,” Ben said.
“Our whole concept revolves around making timeless music that’s special, unique and fun.
“We love vintage sounds so we’ve utilised 70’s and 80’s era hi-fi sound equipment to create a warm and magic live tone to our recording.
“If music is love, then we’re making it in spades.”
Brothers Band will launch their debut CD Southern Love at Harvest Bar, Milton on Saturday, October 7. Tickets are $15 and are available from www.moshtix.com.au/v2/event/brothers-southern-love-cd-launch/97647
