The mother and daughter duo hope to turn their business, Wish You Were Here Dolls, into a global empire and are seeking an investment of $25,000 for a 20 per cent stake in the business.
The 38-year-old said she was egged on by her brother to apply for the show.
“It was actually my brother’s idea,” she said.
“He knew I had a product that could help so many kids. He said I should go for it and get it out there.
“It’s something these kids really need and he pushed me to do it.”
Lauren sews cushion style dolls with photo printed on the front, for children whose parents work away from home, grandparents who live far away or deceased friends and relatives.
Lauren has sewed 3000 of these dolls by hand and is ready to take the business into a manufacturing plant.
“About five years ago my husband was doing fly in fly out from the mines in WA,” he said.
“He worked four weeks on and one week at home.
“I had my two daughters and I used to make other dolls and I was sewing away one night and my daughter, Lily woke up, came out and said ‘Mummy, can you make a doll that looks like Daddy so I can cuddle him at night?’.
“It got me thinking and I sat down and did some research and the next day the wish you were here dolls were born. It’s just gone on from then.”
Shark Tank will air on WIN at 7.30pm on Tuesday night tune in to see if Lauren lures her prized catch.
