THE Ulladulla and Districts Community Resources Centre has recognised a number of local men for their contribution to the community.
Awards were presented to five local men at a ceremony in Ulladulla last Saturday morning to mark International Men's Day.
The awards were presented by Shoalhaven City Council's deputy mayor Andrew Guile to Robert (Bob) Goodwin, Tony Hardman, Andrew Humphries, Mark Stokes and Ray Robbins.
Bob Goodwin was described as a dedicated family man who spends a lot of time working with disabled people in the local community.
He is on the board at Mullala, works at Milton Hospital and chairman of the Lion's Park at Burrill Lake.
Tony Hardman has given many years of service to a number of local organisations including the Milton-Ulladulla Bulldogs and the West Ulladulla Sports Field management committee.
He is also well known for his contribution to the local community through the Milton and Districts Community Bank (Bendigo Bank).
Andrew Humphries' work with men in the local community was described as 'inspirational'.
He was praised for going out of his way to make sure the best outcomes are achieved - even on his days off.
Mr Humphries is also involved with cricket and is an avid fundraiser.
Mark Stokes is involved in the Ulladulla Men's Shed.
He organised equipment and projects to get the best out of his fellow men and always makes people feel welcome.
Ray Robbins has volunteers at St Vincent de Paul and coached junior football before moving to the local area.
He now volunteers with the Lions club in a variety of different positions and helps the elderly with anything they need doing around the home.
