Business showcase a fundraiser

18 Nov, 2009 01:27 PM
WITH only six weeks until Christmas, it is time to start the Christmas shopping and local businesses are giving you the perfect chance, running a Boutique Business Showcase.

Set for this Sunday, November 22, the showcase will feature displays from local businesses including men’s and women’s fashion and accessories, body products and home wares.

A monster raffle and a fashion parade will feature at the showcase and each person who attends will receive a gift bag stuffed full with free goodies.

Not only this, but the participating businesses have pledged to donate 10 per cent of all sales generated through the showcase to the Dunn Lewis Foundation.

Organiser Lorna O'Sullivan-Milford was inspired to start a local Boutique Business Showcase after attending a bridal expo in Batemans Bay.

“I spoke to a friend after the bridal expo and it sparked the idea to do something similar here,” Lorna told the Times.

“With Christmas coming up, we thought a showcase of local businesses would give people from the area a chance to check out some of the great businesses from the area in the one location.”

Lorna approached local businesses and had a positive response to the idea.

“We have a great range of businesses coming along and have received great support from many others who aren’t able to host a display.

“It will be a really relaxed way to socialise and check out what local stores have to sell.”

The showcase will start at 6pm and is open to anyone interested in attending.

“We have had a lot of interest from the community so far but have not sold many of the tickets yet so we are trying to encourage everyone to get organised and get their ticket as soon as they can,” Lorna said.

“The tickets are strictly limited to 200 so get in quick so you don’t miss out.”

Tickets to the showcase cost $25 each and include two drinks, canapes and the gift bags and are available through the Ulladulla Ex-Servos.

“The ticket price covers the cost of the catering,” Lorna said.

“It will be a great night with plenty of food and fun to be shared.”

Along with the 10 per cent donation from sales, all proceeds raised through the monster raffle will be given to the Dunn Lewis Foundation.

“We really wanted to give back to the community through the showcase and fundraising for the Dunn Lewis Foundation seemed like the best option,” Lorna said.

* Boutique Business Showcase: Sunday, November 22 from 6pm at the Ulladulla Ex-Servo’s. Tickets $25 through the Ex-Servo’s or by phoning Lorna on 4454 2141.
