AHOY there, with less than eight weeks until the Milton Relay for Life, the Priceline Pirates are limbering up for their event debut.
Heading the girls in pink will be La-ree Stewart who, after losing her locks for the Shave for Cure fundraiser over the past two years, will keep her hair and take to the track instead.
La-ree told the Times the relay sounded like it would be “a lot of fun and raise funds for a great cause”.
“I usually do the Shave for a Cure, but this year I decided to take part in the relay instead,” she said.
“Both events support the Cancer Council.”
La-ree suggested the idea to her colleagues at Priceline who jumped at the chance to form a team.
“They were really keen to get involved and so far we have nine members,” she said.
“We all know someone who has been touched by cancer, but this year it’s all about Heidi.”
La-ree went to school with Heidi Brook her lost her battle with cancer late last year.
She also has friends who have struggled and beaten breast cancer.
The relay is all about remembering, celebrating and survival and La-ree said her team was expected to have some fun at the community event.
The Priceline Pirates will dress in pink and join more than 20 teams already registered for the relay to be held from 9am on March 31 until 9am on April 1, 2012.
- Teams or individuals that have not registered for the Milton Relay for Life should get online and do so as soon as possible, with the wheels in motion for the 2012 event.
