Rain no dampener to races

THE weather was less than ideal but nothing could put on a dampener on Sunday's Mollymook Cup in Nowra.

Hundreds of people made the trip north for Sunday's race meet, braving the wintry conditions for an afternoon of fashions and fun.

President of the Mollymook Turf Club, Rob Powell, said he was very pleased with the way things had gone, despite the weather.

He said he was particularly pleased with the number of young people who had made the effort to dress up for the event and also praised the "magnificent" food served up by caterer gary Hackett in the sponsors' marque.

The fashions on the field were as popular as ever with Helen Fitzgerald-Combes taking out the ladies under 35 category with Savannah Morrow as runner up.

Debbie Hayden walked off with the major prize in the ladies over 35 category with Jem Crestani as runner while Michael Kerin was judged best dressed gentleman, followed by Luke Jane.
