Turia Pitt has reached out to friends on Facebook to let them know she is doing well in her recovery from horrific burns.
The former Ulladulla resident has been in Sydney’s Concord Hospital since suffering burns to most of her body in early September and has undergone several surgeries.
The 24 year old was running in an ultra marathon event in Western Australia when she became trapped in a bushfire.
Facebook has been an outlet not just for Turia, but also to her many friends who have used the social networking site to post well wishes and to keep updated.
Last week it was Turia who took time to share on Facebook, telling friends she was doing well.
“Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and wishes,” Turia posted.
“My recovery is going well, one more operation to go before I'm off to rehab in January. “Hopefully won't be long before I see you all!”
Just a few weeks ago Turia’s father Michael took time to thank the Milton Ulladulla community for their kind words and actions.
The community has not only given emotional support to Turia and her family; they have helped to raise funds to aid in her recovery through the Akwa single fin surf competition held in October.
