These Oceania's were also the final stage for other Australians to win points to compete at the 2012 London Olympics.
It was extremely exciting not only being in Cairns when the weather was on its way to being much cooler here in Ulladulla, but also exciting to see the top Australian judo competitors all trying to win to receive points to get to the London Olympics.
After a huge day for Blake, as he had fights against people from New Zealand, Guam and other Australians, Blake topped it off with competing for the gold medal.
Unfortunately for him, he was countered and lost his match but come away with a much earned silver medal.
The Oceania's were a stepping stone for Blake and he is on his way to New Zealand on the July 26 to compete at the Auckland open.
After a great result at the 2012 Oceania Championships he will compete in his first ever overseas competition.
For Blake, this competition will mean competing against other competitors that he may not have had the chance of competing against in Australia.
He will travel with the Lismore team and stay with other Australian representatives for his time in New Zealand.
Financially it a huge strain for Blake and his family, but this was eased with a generous donation from Graham and Nancy Mitchell, who have sponsored and helped make New Zealand a possibility for Blake.
Without the sponsorships from kind local members of our community, these great experiences for our members will not happen.
Not only does Blake and his family wish to thank you, but also the Yuukan Judo Club would like to say a warm thank you.
We will keep you updated on his results in the coming weeks.
Also this month sees the Yuukan Judo Clubs AGM, it will be held on the Tuesday, July 24, 6pm, at the Kioloa/Bawley Point Community Hall.
