Brittany wins gold, silver

24 Jun, 2009 12:24 PM
Four members of the Ulladulla Judo Club competed in the Australian National Judo Championships held in Canberra this year with great results, including gold and silver for Brittany Jackson.

After a rigorous seven-week training schedule, Hayley Jackson, Brittany Jackson, Blake Nolan and Luke Nolan put in an enormous effort in this years’ competition, they fought hard with some of the country’s best players.

Brittany Jackson is the Under 13 Under 52kg division Australian national champion gold medallist for the second year in a row.

All of her matches lasted no longer than 10 seconds, with a perfect throw each time.

Brittany also competed in the Under 16 division for the first time and won a silver medal, a huge achievement for the talented competitor.

Hayley Jackson competed in the Under 16 division and just missed out on a medal this year.

Her division was extremely challenging however she still maintains her NSW State champion title and will keep training to come out on top next year.

Luke Nolan competed for the first time in the nationals and it was a great experience for him.

He competed well, and tried really hard, trying to remember all the techniques that he had been taught.

This was a huge division, with more than 17 competitors and he still achieved sixth place in Australia in the Under 13 Under 30kg division.

Blake Nolan was calm, he fought hard, and then went on to have a fight off for bronze.

This fight went on for what seemed like an eternity, Blake was dominating the fight and had the upper hand in technique.

The match came to time and went into golden score, with just a point into determining who was to get the bronze, Blake's opponent did a foot sweep and it was over.

Blake earned fourth place in Australia in the Under 16 Under 38kg division.

Anyone can train in judo, this is excellent personal fitness for all ages. Come along on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Ulladulla Judo Club, The Circus, Princes Highway, Ulladulla.
