MILTON-Ulladulla Bulldogs captain Thomas Cook was honoured with VB South Coast Group 7 Rugby League's highest individual achievement when he was awarded the Michael Cronin Medal.
The livewire five-eighth was recognised for a stellar season with the Player of the Year gong at the Group 7 presentation at Kiama Leagues Club last Friday night.
His 2009 campaign included finishing the regular season's top try-scorer with 24 four-pointers.
Cook was voted as the winner of the prestigious award ahead of the likes of Warilla-Lake South duo Aaron Henry and Linken Hutchinson.
Cook was the first Bulldogs player to win the award since Adam Stone in 2005.
Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles prop Derek 'Spud' Gray, who played a key role in his side taking out the first grade premiership was acknowledged for his efforts with the Cleary Bros and VB Player of the Year.
"This is unreal," he said.
"Playing with a lot of friends and family is great. I've only ever played for this club and to win the comp was special."
Gray also dedicated his win to the memory of former Gerringong player Danny Morse, who died last week.
Long-time Jamberoo Superoos administrator and committee member Connie Dallas was acknowledged for her hard work with the Harold Alcock Memorial Trophy, which recognises outstanding contributions to the game.
"I feel very honoured," she said.
"It was very much a surprise, but this tops off a great year for the club. It was our first year back (in first grade) and it was great to go as far as we did."
Greenwell Point Pirates skipper John Carey won the Athol Noble Medal (for the Regan Cup Player of the Year) capping off a great year for his side, which included claiming back-to-back premierships.
Other award recipients included Kiama Knights lock James Gilmore (Bill James Trophy for Under 18s Player of the Year) and 17-year-old David Catterall from the Gerringong Lions, who received the St George-Illawarra Dragons Trophy for being the Under 21s Player of the Year.
Warilla centre Tyson Brown was the winner of the Roy Stewart Memorial Trophy for the being the season's Rookie of the Year.
Mitchell Liddicoat (Berry-Shoalhaven Heads) and Thomas Berry (Nowra) were also announced as the winners of the Kevin Walsh Scholarship Awards.
The Warilla-Lake South Gorillas were also presented with the club championship.
Premiership plaques were also presented to the four winning clubs - Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles (first grade), Berry-Shoalhaven Heads Magpies (reserve grade), Greenwell Point Pirates (Regan Cup) and Culburra Dolphins (under 18s).
