ON October 10 and 11 the single largest 24-hour mountain biking race was held at Stromlo Forest Park in Canberra.
The Scott 24 hour is a widely enjoyed mass participation race, allowing riders of all abilities out on the tracks together, battling it out in a fun festival like atmosphere.
You will see weekend warriors out on the track alongside riders of Olympic, world and national standard.
Over 2300 riders raced over the action packed weekend with their skills and endurance tested.
The MUD Mountain Bike Club had four local riders entered in the event. Paul Desborough, Adam Cross, Paul Mariconte and John Smith in team Not Gooch Fit competed in the four teams event.
The race started at noon on Saturday and went through until noon on Sunday. John Mariconte hit the track first coming in in just over an hour, which meant the guys were in for a busy 24 hours.
Overall, the guys completed 15 laps placing 110th out of 135 teams and had a sensational weekend.
Walking away from the weekend with two flat tyres, a broken seat pole, one injured knee, and very little sleep all the riders agreed that it was one of the most well organised and professional event they'd ever seen and would highly recommend competing in the event next year.
