Sensational swim

20 Apr, 2011 01:48 PM
The weather cleared just in time for Mollymook's annual Ocean Swim on Sunday with more than 150 people taking part.

The highlight of the event was the two-kilometre swim from Mollymook Beach's northern end to outside the Mollymook Surf Club.

The popular event, in it's ninth year, was won by 17-year-old Brad Horrey from Botany.

Coming in second and doing the local area proud was Keith Purvis who, at more than twice the first and third place getters age, showed swimming is not about age, but strength and skill.

Taking out third place in the swim was Jack Harrison from Gymea Bay.

Also popular was the 500 metre Dash for Cash swim for junior and novice swimmers with the winners scoring a cash prize.

Along with many seasoned swimmers, organisers reported a large number of new faces among those taking the plunge.

Organised by the Mollymook Surf Club and supported by the Ulladulla ExServos, the Mollymook Ocean Swim has once again be heralded a success.

Organisers would like to thank all the sponsors, supporters and volunteers for helping to put on the event.
