ANGLERS from along the coast will head to the region next month for the annual Jess Sams Game Fishing Tournament.
Set to be held over three days from Friday, February 5 to Sunday, February 7, the popular competition will see anglers vying for this year’s title.
Run by the Ulladulla Sports and Game Fishing Club, the Jess Sams comp will be the 72nd competition held from Ulladulla Harbour.
The club is proud of the heritage of Jess Sams and continues to honour the legacy each year.
2010 marks the 72nd anniversary of the late Jess Sam's 1938 Australian record striped Marlin catch of 330lbs, a record still current today and the challenge is out for anglers to tackle the record.
Entries to the competition are now open and will be accepted until the second day of competition Saturday, February 6.
Fishing will run from 6.30am to 5pm on Friday, 6.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday and 6.30am to 3pm on Sunday.
Once all the fish are weighed in on Sunday afternoon and the points tallied, the winners will be announced.
Not just a fishing competition, the Jess Sams also give anglers the chance to socialise and swap stories.
As part of the competition, the Ulladulla Sports and Game Fishing Club will serve breakfast at the harbour from 5.30am to 7am on each of the three days with a barbecue to be held on Friday night at the weigh station at Ulladulla Harbour from 7pm to 8pm.
On Saturday night there will be a dinner and the Lucky Angler Draw held at the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club from 7.30pm with bookings required.
