Bright future behind the wheel for Daniel

20/08/2008 11:03:00 AM
WITH just one round to go, Ulladulla driver Daniel Lewis is looking at a place over-all in the NSW State Motor Racing Championships.

A keen motor racing enthusiast since before he hit teens, Daniel is making his mark with the big league this year.

Racing Formula Fords, Daniel took out third over-all at Goulbourn Wakefield Park last weekend in the fifth round of the State Championships.

The last round, to be battled out at Eastern Creek at the end of next month, should see Daniel remain in good stead.

Still on his racing P plates, having only joined the big guns this year, Daniel’s consistent results are making their mark in the world of championship racing.

Placed second in Rookie of the Year Championships, he is one to be watched!

“You have to wear P plates for your first five races in the Formula Fords,” Daniel, who grew up in Ulladulla and attended Milton Public and Ulladulla High School, explained.

“I was pretty stoked to make it to third place in the first round in this six round comp.

“I’m really enjoying the challenge of this new sport.”

During his race at Oran Park in July, Daniel faced rain and hail, so was thrilled there was no rain this time, “though it was freezing cold in Goulbourn,” he added.

Daniel, who works with his father Russell in the family company Lewis Excavations, travels to all his races and is looking forward to the final round on September 27 at Eastern Creek.

As they say, ‘watch this spot!’
