Keeping Your Brain Active

15 Apr, 2009 12:17 PM
“Why did I open the fridge?”

“I know, I came into the room to fetch something, what was it?”

These are words that are becoming very familiar to most of us these days, we call them ‘senior moments’!

The medical profession is adamant that keeping ones’ brain active is so important, whether we play cards, Sudoku or crossword puzzles. It just makes us think.

Bridge is one such game that is so good for exercising those brain cells! Each hand you play or defend is always a challenge.

The Mollymook Bridge Club has grown over the past years and is a pleasant, friendly club with some very active members. The members are very thoughtful towards novice players, encouraging them and giving them any support they need.

It is not only playing bridge that members enjoy, but also the friendship and caring given to those who might be ill or having problems.

Dianne Samuel is back giving bridge lessons again this year. These are scheduled to commence towards the middle of May. She is a very popular and patient teacher.

Should you be interested just ring the club on 4455 7195 and leave a message or contact one of our members, Maureen Bromfield (president) on 4454 1477; Faye Thomson on 4454 4491 or Dianne herself on 4455 5056.

On completion of the lessons, one of our more experienced players, will act as a mentor, to guide you through the first few playing sessions.

Not only do we play bridge, but we also have social events in which you can partake if you so wish. So why not give it a go, you have nothing to lose and only knowledge to gain.
