Shoalhaven Superheroes Events director and founder David Arakie is organising the annual event, which he said was well on the way to “breaking records”, and expects hundreds of people to attend.
Mr Arakie wants to see the event grow to have more than 14,000 people attend, which would break the record for the largest pirate gathering in the world, a record held by Hastings in the United Kingdom.
“Already this year we have 200 people coming,” he said.
“This year are expanding it with the help of Apex, Lions and Rotary to do a fun afternoon outside before dinner.
“We are having a pirates gathering, we want at least 500 people, kids and adults, dressed as pirates to meet at 5pm outside the Ulladulla Civic Centre.
“The idea is we will then announce ourselves as the pirate capital of Australia.”
Mr Arakie encouraged businesses to make the fundraiser their Christmas part.
Attendees will dress in their best pirate outfit.
It is hoped a Ronald McDonald House will be opened in the Shoalhaven, Mr Arakie said.
“We have just started and have already raised about $30,000. We need to get $250,000 for the initial phase,” he said.
“There is absolutely a high demand for this. The nearest facilities to us are at Westmead and Randwick.”
The Swaggers will be the main entertainment at the Saturday, November 25 party.
The afternoon event will begin at 2pm, with the dinner and fundraiser to begin at 6 for 6.30pm at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, on the Princes Highway.
Tickets to the fundraiser at $75 and include a three course meal, entertainment and games.
