The Renal unit was due to open in mid-January, however “commissioning issues” have forced it remain closed for some extra three months, according to Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).
“Construction of Milton Ulladulla Hospital’s new $4.6 million Renal and Palliative Care Unit has recently been completed and the new facility handed over to the Local Health District for commissioning,” ISLHD acting executive director clinical operations Sue Harris said. '
ISLHD said the unit encountered minor construction delays, due to poor weather, which contributed to the delay and the opening has been slated for May.
“Detailed commissioning of the Renal Unit is currently being finalised, which involves preparing the facility and its workforce for the commencement of operations,” Ms Harris said.
“Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District anticipates the new facility will see its first patient in the coming weeks ahead of a formal opening next month.”
There is not currently a date set for the opening.
