A Subaru WRX was being driven along Kings Point Drive about 5.40pm when the driver, a 30-year-old Ulladulla man, noticed smoke coming from under the engine. He pulled over and got out, just before flames erupted from the engine.
Fire and Rescue was called, but the car was destroyed in the blaze.
Then about four hours later a car parked outside a home on the Princes Highway in Ulladulla was set alight, destroying it and damaging a neighbouring car.
A green Ford Falcon was destroyed in the incident, while a blue Ford Falcon belonging to the same person was damaged by the heat and flames.
However firefighters were able to ensure there was no danger of damage to the nearby petrol station.
Police are investigating the suspected arson attack.
