G’day World, three times as satisfying as a mucus expelling sneeze is the teeth jarring Weekly Wash, proudly brought to you by Akwa Surf keeping you informed with all the surf happenings locally and what’s been happening on the pro tour.
As quality surf sessions this winter seem to be as rare as an albino's monobrow it was quite a relief to run into three consecutive days of fun, semi pumping slabs of water.
Also accommodating was some absolutely salubrious weather.
By the time the weekend raised its glorious head the waves had sadly abandoned us again and, by the looks of the world’s weather charts, headed to Indonesia for some sun and Bintangs.
One plus this week was the sudden spike in the water temp which was very welcome and even gave us a slight taste of the summer everyone is aching to draw closer.
Once again it was a Friday that revealed the best surf of the week as a north swell swaggered down the coast line giving us another flavour of surf to the beaches we all know and love.
By mid-morning the wind had swung around to the offshore position to pretty up the direction of waves and feed the beaches with some quality.
While this event happens a few times a year, you really need to be in touch with your surf instincts to find the better waves on offer.
Someone who always seems to find himself at the right locations was Ryan Welsh who found himself at a secret little river mouth to indulge in some long and tasty walls of water.
Ryan, who works for DP surfboards, always makes time to perfect their craft by doing the hardest job at hand, like surfing the boards in sick waves... poor fella.
Ulladulla Boardriders found themselves at the ever reliable location of Rennies Beach for their monthly event over the weekend and despite all the surf forecast offering flat to subpar conditions Rennies provided a two foot wave which kept on giving for the whole day.
Some big bragging rights came out of the event and again it was super gurfer Rubie Reents who stunned some of her higher fancied male contestants to make another final in the open division.
Look out guys, she will embarrass many a male counterpart in the next few years.
Other standouts were Jason "Bullfrog" Evans getting his first win in more than three years in the over 40 division and Adam Richards taking home his first place in the open division who has also had more than three years since his last win in the blue ribbon division.
The wave factory of Pantin produced clean two to three foot surf to complete the ASP 3-Star Pantin Classic Galicia Pro that crowned Steven Pierson the 2013 event champion.
Stay classy Milton Ulladulla and see you all soon, if anyone would like to add anything to this column either call into Akwa Surf, buzz us on 4454 5222 or email me at kurt@akwasurf.com.au
