FIRST time short film makers will showcase their work on the big screen at Arcadia Cinemas on Friday night as part of the ARTfest Film Festival.

For the past five weeks the local film makers have been working hard on their individual projects that have been developed as part of ABC Open’s My Crazy Passion series.
The My Crazy Passion project required film makers to find someone in their own community with as unusual hobby or wacky obsession and make a short four minute film about them.
ABC Open producer and workshop coordinator Sarah Moss said that film makers involved in this year’s workshop have completed some amazing films which will delight the public.
“These people are a very committed group of filmmakers,” Ms Moss said.
“They have been very attentive, great listeners and they take everything on board.
“They all work with such momentum - it has been a beautiful process to watch these films come to life.”
Ms Moss held workshops and one-on-one meetings with the film makers involved and said they have really out done themselves.
“They have stepped up to the challenge and have done a marvellous job of storytelling,” she added.
“There are 10 films that will be showcased on Friday evening and they are being shown free of charge".
The short film will featre local creatives including Laura Pavy and Hamish Richardson who will share their passions of firbe art and music.
Ms Moss hopes to return to the region to do more filmmaking workshops over the summer.
Arcadia Cinemas will host the ARTfest Film Festival from Thursday to Sunday this week with a huge range of thought provoking, insightful and even controversial films being played.
Art-house film lovers only have a few days to take advantage of the great independent films planned for the weekend so be sure to check out the session times.
On Friday night the short-films will be showcased for free as part of ABC Open at 6.30pm.
Independent film Prince Avalanche will be screened at 7.30pm, with tickets on sale for $15, including a beverage.
