A community project designed to encourage student interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active and constructive role in the community, the quest seeks a broad range of skills in its winners.
This year’s overall winner was Luke with fellow UHS student Bonnie Hansen, taking out the public speaking category.
Participants were judged on their leadership, sporting, cultural and community interests, their personality, academic Record, public speaking ability and general knowledge.
Luke will go on to the regional final in Bomaderry on March 8, which will be followed by district and state levels, with one outstanding individual qualifying to represent their state at the annual Lions National Final.
The Ulladulla Milton Lions Club held their annual event on Wednesday November 20 with four contestants taking part.
The judging was held prior to the Lions meeting with the contestants participating in the public speaking section which consisted of answering two impromptu questions and presenting a five minute speech on a topic of their choice.
Luke and Bonnie have also been chosen to participate in a Lions International Youth Camp in Victoria in July 2014.
All contestants received prizes of their choice of books from the Ulladulla Harbour Bookshop.
