This year's Yuukan Judo Club award winners of the tournament point scorers should not have come as a big surprise to anyone, as they are on the website for everyone to see, but it was a well-deserved award for Blake Nolan who travelled to every international tournament as well as representing Australia at the Australian Oceania's in Cairns, was a reserve in the National Development Talented Program and with these results he was awarded the 2013 judoka award.
The winners for highest point scorer in Mons is Eva Gautier, highest point scorer in Juniors is Amelie Gautier, highest point scorer in Senior is Molly Haughey and highest point scorer in Cadet is Blake Nolan.
These members travelled to many tournaments, competition and training day so these points added up extremely quickly for them.
It was a huge surprise and lovely to see Amelie's face when she was awarded the Perpetual Trophy for Judo Spirit Award, as she did not know that she was in the running for it but as she is only 10 she too travelled to the international opens, she competed at the Australian National Championships and she travelled, trained and gained this award because of her dedication and determination of always trying and giving her best.
Eva Mc Donald was also surprised when she was awarded the encouragement award, but she too, has tried her best this year, she has also come to many tournaments however, we believe that this year if she continues competing and training hard at home she will also be another state and national representative in our club, both these girls were extremely deserving recipients of these awards.
To add another surprise for our members, we were contacted by an ex Ulladulla Judo Club student who wanted to express his gratitude to our club and sensei Chris Gautier by donating a year’s paid fees to be divided by four lucky members, we have set up the Ashley Schofield Scholarship and our first winner for term 1 is Michael Haughey.
We finished our 2013 with a year in review and we couldn't believe the achievements in which saw Blake, Michael, Molly, Riley, Amelie all compete at state, international and national level and we watched as these members judo experience and talent grew.
We were extremely proud of the other members who travelled to local tournaments and training days improving their judo and putting their knowledge and technique into practice, these members also deserve a mention Eva, Eva M, Loui, Jessica, Blaed, Henderson, Paris, Katie, Nicholas, Bella, Kyle, Robert, Pia, Rose, Logan, Madeleine, Willem, Jet
The Racecourse Beach Caravan Park again let us have our presentation there and it was a great day for us all to relax around the pool and for the ones with more energy play at the park.
Our raffle was full of fantastic prizes from My Patch, Terry Wilke Carpentry, Timber Tops, Brill Cafe, Scouse House, Coastal Angler and Bawley Liquor Barn.
Yuukan Judo Club will start back up on February 4 and we look forward to welcoming new students.
We train on Tuesday and Wednesdays Juniors 5pm-6pm, Seniors 6pm-7.30pm.
We are always looking for new members and our club is well established with state, national, international and Australian representatives whom assist sensei Chris in his position as coach for our members to reach their desired goals and successes.
