A highlight of the weekend will be Sunday’s colourful float parade led by Ulladulla’s fishing families and featuring a myriad of creative floats topped by Blessing of the Fleet princesses.

As the busy weekend approaches, princesses and their families are frantically finishing off the floats that will parade along the Princes Highway from 11am on Sunday.

There will be magnificent creations from the latest movies and classic fairytales, but many princesses are keeping their works a closely guarded secret.

The Times has had a sneak peek at a few of this year’s entries and they are looking spectacular, with some families working on their masterpieces since the Christmas holidays.

The parade will be led by winning princess Lilly Hatwell, who will share her Frozen-themed float with second runner-up Amelia Johnston.

Next in line will be first runner-up Abbie Wilesmith, who has teamed up with princess Amy Flamminio to create a colourful Lego float.

As well as the float parade through the main street, Sunday will offer plenty of activities in the civic centre grounds and around the harbour foreshore, including the greasy pole competition, fun beach games and live music on the harbour stage.

The official blessing ceremony will be carried out by Father Davidanthony Davies at the end of the parade at around 12.30pm in the wharf area.

A myriad of activities, from circus performances to fire dancing will take place throughout the afternoon before the Easter fireworks spectacular gets underway at 6.30pm.

The weekend is also set to provide a cultural flavour with the inaugural South Coast Festival of Nations on Saturday in the grounds and auditorium of the Ulladulla ExServos from 9am.

For a gold coin donation, patrons can experience a showcase of indigenous cultures from around the world, with stalls, traditional foods and a host of live performances from didgeridoos and bagpipes to island dances on two stages.
