The crew from Dolphin Watch Cruises at Jervis Bay snapped these majestic creatures on Wednesday and said they were the first group to head north where they will give berth in Queensland waters over winter.
Humpbacks and Southern Right Whales can usually be spotted heading up the coast around mid-May, so this group was right on time.
Julie Martin from Dolphin Watch said the organisation would be conducting cruises on Jervis Bay every day now that the whale season had commenced.
Milton-Ulladulla residents can catch a glimpse of the whales from headland and beaches, with Ulladulla’s Warden Head a popular vantage point.
