The Australian musician who is embarking on his Lone Wolf tour has already sold out venues in both Darwin and Montrose and Victoria but declared his love for the historic village of Milton.
“I’ve played that theatre about four times now and I love it,” Pyke said.
“It's such a creative community in Milton and the atmosphere and sound that is created is great
“The theatre has a wonderful sound and the audience that turns up are the right mix of well-behaved people and those that want to get up clap and have a dance.”
Pyke’s career launched in 2004 when he won a Jaxter Music Award which he then used the proceeds to build his own home studio to release his own mini-album Feeding The Wolves.
The following year he gained recognition for his singles Middle of the Hill, as well as second single Private Education.
In 2007 he released his second studio album Dust and Memories that cleaned up at the ARIA Awards winning Best Adult Contemporary Album, Producer of the Year (with Wayne Connolly) and Pyke was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the year and Best Male Artist.
Pyke despite touring substantially overseas values his home grown audience and has extensively toured regional Australia throughout his career.
“I have always toured regionally and I am always looking to expanding that regional circuit,” he said.
“I’ve think it’s an important part of building a career for yourself as a musician in Australia.”
“There is only so long that you can play capital cities and I have a really strong audience in regional Australia that is great.”
In mid 2013 Pyke released his fourth album, The Beginning And The End Of Everything, that debuted on at number seven on the ARIA Albums Charts.
Pyke’s leading single from the album Leeward Side is reminiscent of his older music with sing-along chorus and beautiful melody.
Released last year the song made up the Triple J Hottest 100, the world’s largest democratic music poll and was a real achievement for Pyke.
“The first single Leeward Side just keeps sticking around,” Pyke said.
“The single made it into this year’s Triple J Hottest 100 and I think that is like the ninth time I have been very lucky in regards to that with my fan base supporting me.”
Pyke will play Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, at Milton Theatre tickets available online at www.miltontheatre.com.au
