However it is not the expected type of memorial.
Instead it is a pine tree, planted on Monday as part of Education Week.
The tree is a fourth-generation descendant of the lone pine tree that gave its name to the Battle of Lone Pine in World War I, which was part of the Gallipoli campaign.
Pictured helping to plant the tree on Monday were school prefects Angus Rutherford and Declan Davies, captains Jack Skinner and Jade Mudge, prefects Aimee Clugston and Yasmin Davidson, and school principal Mark Thomson.
