The Milton Ulladulla Tennis Club recently held its championships with Zach Pitman named the 2014 men’s singles champion and Shaylee Sydenham crowned the women’s singles champion.

Zach Pitman defeated Glen Roberts 6-3, 6-3 in the final and Shaylee Sydenham defeated Brittany Anderson 6-4, 7-6.
The A men’s singles final was won by Riley White, who defeated Ty Pleasance 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
A ladies singles final was won by Kate Rejc, who defeated Morgan Smith 1-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Due to a complete wash-out of the championships on Sunday the rest of the championship matches will be played at a later date.
The club would like to thank Harris Scarfe for sponsoring its annual club championships by donating all prizes for the winners and runners-up of every event.
Also to David and Jenny Rutherford for donating all the milk, and to David Liddle and his team from the Tabourie Tuckerbox for donating some scrumptious pies and sausage rolls.
Members would also like to make special mention of the tireless work done by club secretary Bev Magee and president Keith Bonzer for organising and running the championships so efficiently.
Special mention as well to Pauline Proctor for running the canteen, chefs Val Crook and Pauline McIlveen for their soup donations, and everyone else who bought in the afternoon food.

Division one: Cassidy, Dickson and Evans (Cassidy winning four sets and Foster filling-in) 6 defeated Lahiff, Dunn and McIlveen 2. Loves, Wooden and Rejc (all winning four sets) 8 defeated Solomon, Whitehouse and Greenhalgh 0. Mennie, Longworth and Shuttle 6 defeated Crook, Rowland and Germyn (Farmilo filling-in) 2.
Score board: Cassidy 28 points, Mennie 19 points, Loves 17 points, Lahiff 10 points, Smith eight points, Solomon seven points, Crook five points.
Division two: Pascoe, Martin and Greenhalgh 7 (Proctor filling-in and winning four sets) defeated Brook, Dunn and Gumley (Martin filling-in) 1. Neal, Potts and Rutherford 7 defeated Shalhoub, Doyle and Beasley (Fox filling-in) 1.
Rasmussen, Donahue and Clough 5 defeated Bennett, Jensen and Hargraves 3. Score board: Rasmussen 25 points, Callahan 18 points, Shalhoub, Neal and Pascoe 13 points, Bennett 11 points, Brook three points.
Division three: McKenzie, Thomas, Sambolic (Sambolic winning four sets and Rafidi filling-in) 7 defeated McLachlan, Ramsden and Turner (Hall filling-in) 1. Peterson, Hewison and McDonald (White and Rafidi filling-in and all winning four sets) 8 defeated Charles, Hardwick and Richards 0.
Score board: Peterson 27 points, McKenzie 14 points, Charles eight points, McLachlan eight points, McDonald seven points.

Division one: Anderson 5½ defeated Pleasance 2½ (even on games), White 6½ defeated O’Neil 1 ½ (Riley White winning three sets).
Score board: Bonser 47 ½ points, White 43 ½ points, Anderson 40 points, Pleasance 35 ½ points, O’Neil 25 ½ points.
Division two: Dippel 6 ½ defeated Penny 1 ½, Verhoeven 5 ½ defeated McCann 2 ½.
Score board: Verhoeven 46 points, Dippel 45 ½ points, McCann 39 ½ points, Webb 35 points, Penny 26 points.
Division three: Gunn 5 defeated Pleasance 3(Harry Graham winning three sets), McDonald 7 defeated Borg 1.

The Bakers Delight encouragement awards were won by: Div 1 Caleb Howe, div 2 Kyle Hasler, Div 3 Matthew Wheeler, div 4 Tom Eastway.
All of these players will receive some bakery treats.
Mr. G’s Deli encouragement awards were won by: Div 1 Caleb Geraghty, div 2 Jacob Webb, div 3 Ewan Ogilvy, div 4 Jack Ridley, who will all receive a free milkshake.

Junior club championships are to be played on September 13 and 14 so it is now time to start thinking about organising yourselves and partners for the girls, boys and mixed doubles events, putting your names on the sheets for these and the singles events and possibly having some practice together with the free for junior members court hire system.

Tuesday morning mixed social tennis is organised by Lynne Hill and all players are welcome to come along.
Please be at the courts ready to play by 9am for a 9.15am start, or phone the clubhouse on 4455 4593 to put your name down if you are going to be late.
It costs $5 per member player.
This is a great social event where all visitors to the area a most welcome to come along and play.
Saturday Arvo Social Round-Robin is a mixed social tennis group which runs from 1pm at a cost of $6 per member player.
All are welcome, including visitors to the area, so come along and bring a plate of nibbles for afterwards if you want.
Anyone interested in playing should be at the courts by 12.45pm.
Tennis Club Professional Coach Luke Jane-LJ’s Saturday Morning Tennis Groups are run during school terms.
Luke runs an introduction to tennis class for the beginner from 8.30an to 9.15am going all term for $5 a session, followed at 9.15am to 10am with a slightly more advanced group, also for $5 a session.
All are welcome to come along and learn how to play.
There are also lessons and squads available for all abilities during school terms, on week days, as well as tennis clinics held every holidays. Get in early to be included as classes fill up quickly.
