The Comics on the Run Showcase is performing at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on Saturday night as part of Ulladullirious, featuring the talents of the ‘cool cat’ Darren Casey from Melbourne, sax-playing Gary Bradbury from Adelaide, Ray Badran from Wollongong and MC Barry McLeod, originally from Scotland, who will help keep you laughing all night.
As if that isn’t enough of a line-up for one bill, they are joined by the hilarious Gary Eck, one of Australia's most popular and versatile stand-up comedians whose sharp wit has been entertaining Australian and international audiences for nearly two decades.
Eck is also an accomplished writer, actor and director who will headline this brilliant showcase.
Eck is truly an international act and his career has taken him all round the world from Edinburgh to Paris to New York and London.
He has performed his stand-up accompanied by a live orchestra, been MC for the Myer spring summer launch with Jennifer Hawkins and appeared on numerous television shows including Rove, The Footy Show, Spicks and Specks and was weekly guest on Mick Molloy’s The Nation on Channel Nine.
Gary has also successfully ventured into film having co-starred and co-written the feature film You Can't Stop the Murders (Miramax 2003) with Anthony Mir and Akmal Saleh and starred in the Australian film Boytown alongside Mick Molloy and Glenn Robins.
Gary has won the world's largest short film competition, Tropfest, with his short film The Money. A collection of Gary's shorts recently screened in a special one hour program on the Comedy Channel titled, Ecks Rated Shorts.
As if that isn’t enough, more recently Eck helped write the screenplay for Happy Feet with Academy Award winning director George Miller.
He has also penned a screenplay with Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral) for Working Title Films.
So if you are looking for a great laugh and a good night out and want to support a worthy local charity Jindelara, providing respite care for young people in Milton Ulladulla living with disabilities, be sure not to miss Comics on the Run.
Doors open at 6.30pm, tickets are $33 and are available from Regional Excellence 0459 546 002 or Gailene McLaren on 0414 554 038.
