Festival coordinator Sarah Watterson was still in a state of Ulladullirium on Monday when she described the event as an “overwhelming success”.
“We rocked it,” she said.
The festival featured more than 12 laughter-filled events aimed at boosting the region’s economy during the winter months and providing top class entertainment for locals as well as visitors to the region.
Sarah said Ulladullirious was successful at bringing people, money and vibrancy into the region.
“The town was buzzing all weekend,” she said.
“There was so much going on and people were out having a great time at the different venues.
“The feedback we’ve had from local businesses that were involved has been outstanding.”
With headlines acts such as Tom Gleeson, Tommy Franklin, Sean Woodland and Cameron Knight, Sarah said many locals invited their families and friends to town for the weekend.
Dancing hipster Tommy Franklin hosted an event at Ulladulla High School, but made several unexpected public appearances throughout the weekend.
“He turned up on Friday night at Tom Gleeson’s show and in the Plaza for the flash mob on Saturday,” Sarah said.
“It was great to see him around town - he was such as nice guy with a contagious happiness and had plenty of time to talk to people.”
Up and coming entertainer Rhys the Trickster also showed off his talents at local primary schools on Friday before showing up at the Milton Theatre before Rude, Crude and Musical and also at Tom Gleeson’s ExServos show where the 15-year-old was delighted to meet one of his comedy idols.
Sarah said the support from festival goers, as well as local businesses, ensured the event was a hit.
She said a committee of 27 people worked hard to bring the festival to town in only 115 days.
As well as providing entertainment en masse and boosting the winter economy, the organisers wanted to give something back to the community and the fundraising Comics on the Run who managed to raise thousands for the Jindelara Respite Home coffers.
Sarah said it was great to see so many people out enjoying the shows on offer and getting involved in things like workshops, karaoke and the kids’ scavenger hunt which attracted about 100 participants.
“Sean and Cam at the Mollymook Bowlo was amazing - there was so much energy in the club, which would normally be pretty quiet at this time of year,” she explained.
“The shows at the Milton Theatre were great, particularly Rude, Crude and Musical - which was ridiculous and hilarious, just as promised.”
She said the festival would become an annual event, with all performers indicating they would return.
As the wheels are set in motion for the 2015 festival, she said the committee would be seeking feedback from the community and businesses about what they would like to see included in future events and would also like to hear from anyone keen to get involved by hosting an event.
“We hope it will be bigger and better next year,” Sarah added.
