The show will be held at the CWA Hall in Wason Street, Milton, from 9am to 3pm.
The club invites everyone to come and see an incredible array of flowering orchids passionately grown by club members in the local area.
Some orchids flower magnificently every year, while others can take several years to flower.
Generally speaking, orchids are easy to grow, provided you take care of their basic needs such as light, water and fertiliser, but different orchid tribes have different needs.
For phalanopsis, or the moth orchids, which are eager flowerers, keep them warm over winter, such as near a window sill with filtered sunlight, inside the house and water as the bark/perlite mixture dries out.
Unlike Cattleyas, which hold water in their pseudo-bulbs, phalanopsis need to be watered fairly regularly, but the mixture is not allowed to stay wet.
Do not let them get wet feet either.
Some orchids, like certain cymbidiums and native dendrobiums, love to live in the home garden, shade house or outside in pots.
Visitors can speak with club members who have a wealth of experience in growing orchids, and are always happy to pass on their growing tips and advice, to budding growers.
So come along on September 13 for what is expected to be a fantastic show.
