Despite beating Batemans Bay in the first semi the boys and girls knew they would be challenged by a Batemans Bay side keen for revenge.
The Dockers were under pressure from the first bounce and the midfielders led by Caleb Kersting, Gleeso, Ralph and Ben Shephard battled hard to prevent the ball from going into the Seahawks’ forward line.
Jono was superb again at half-back as was Gussy, who put his head over the ball all day.
Joe and Reef were as reliable as ever in defence and they were well supported by the gutsy trio from the under 10s – Earl Powell, Harrison Hicks and Benny Clough.
On the wings, Rosie and Bella ran and chased all day as did Hughy and Brodie on the half-forward line.
Simmo played well at centre half forward and he had good support from Ellis, Billy and Angus.
Harry was superb at full-forward kicking a couple of goals while Archie and Dylan made some good contributions against a ferocious Seahawks defence.
In the end the Dockers were beaten 92-14 by a bigger and faster side, but their performance was admirable and all parents and families felt proud as they received their runners-up medallions at the after match presentation. Overall it was a great season where everybody improved and, most importantly, had fun and made new friends.
The presentation will be held at Tabourie Caravan Park on Sunday, September 14 from 11am.
