London: The two Australian radio hosts whose prank call preceded the death of British nurse Jacintha Saldanha will not give evidence at her inquest.

In December 2012 Ms Saldanha, 46, put through a call to London’s King Edward VII Hospital from 2DAY FM DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian to a nurse on the ward occupied by Kate Middleton.
That nurse then gave out private details on the medical condition of the Duchess of Cambridge, who was being treated for severe morning sickness.
A few days after the prank Ms Saldanha took her own life in her accommodation at the hospital. According to British newspaper reports, she left a suicide note blaming the DJs for her death.
The inquest into the death is being held this week at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, presided over by Westminster coroner Dr Fiona Wilcox.
In a statement released on Monday the City of Westminster said nine witnesses would give evidence at the inquest, but their names would not be announced in advance.
“The two Australian DJs will not be giving evidence, but the Austereo Radio Network has submitted evidence to the inquest,” the statement said.
The inquest is expected to run for at least one day, possibly two.
