Trained by Steve Englebrecht at Warwick Farm and ridden by Deanne Panya, Reply Churlish proved a class above a quality field despite drawing awkwardly in barrier 14 and there being doubt about whether it would run, to claim the top prize during a big day of racing at the Archer Raceway on Sunday.
However there were many winners on the day - including several in the large crowd who secured valuable prizes in the hotly-contested fashions on the field competitions.
First it was the Fashionable Fillies competition which attracted a large crowd of beautifully dressed young women.
It might have been fascinators at 10 paces, but the prize eventually went to Brooke Struhan of Nowra, with Nikki Fellows of Mollymook the runner-up.
Di L'Estrange of Milton claimed the Elegant Lady competition for the second consecutive year ahead of former Ulladulla resident Debbie Hayden.
When it came to the men's competition Jack McGlone of Braidwood took the top prize, while second place was shared by Andrew McCabe as his young sons Joshua and Jacob of Ulladulla.
Fashions judges Martin and Majella Sanders said they had a tough time deciding the winners in all three categories.
A large crowd enjoyed fantastic conditions throughout the day, with the Shoalhaven City Turf Club ensuring there was plenty to keep people of all ages amused.
