The meeting celebrated 12 months of activities, with blankets for Wrap with Love, more washable sanitary kits for Days for Girls, a collection of calico hospital dolls, and some knitwear for premature babies.
The club has offered its services to Family Support and have been asked to make frozen meals, football beanies and scarves, and hi vis vests for children.
The local ARTfest committee asked the CWA to make 100 large paper pompoms, and the Ulladullirious committee required crocheted circles to decorate a ‘Happy Tree’.
The club has researched both Hospital Support and Material Aid Abroad, and now collect some items for these every month.
The club’s talented artists and craftswomen have won prizes at group and state level including the group trophy and the rose bowl.
Wollondilly group publicity officer, Jennifer Bowe travelled from Moss Vale to chair the meeting.
She talked of how she believed the future of CWA lay with evening meetings, which would allow working women to attend.
She said, “The next generation must come from the working community.”
The challenge faced by CWA is an aging membership, but these members have made it what it is today, and of this we should be proud.
Another challenge she saw facing CWA is the monitoring and maintaining of CWA rooms, which are a great community asset.
Jennifer concluded that the good work CWA does nationally, internationally and locally ensures that it will continue.
News for members is the Bunnings barbecue will be held on November 1 and the Christmas lunch will be held on December 10 at Bacchus, Milton.
Money and numbers are due at the November meeting on Wednesday, November 19.
See you there.
