Vinnies Ulladulla now has nearly every book you would ever need on Australia’s favourite game.
Last week the Ulladulla store got a delivery of over 500 cricket-related books, and with more books than there is room to store them, volunteers at the store would love to see every one of them find a new home.
St Vinnies Shoalhaven regional manager Rod Douglass said he did not know who delivered the books, but said often the store receives donations from a deceased estate.
“Someone was obviously a cricket fanatic,” he said.
With titles such as ‘Wicket Keepers of the World’, ‘Clive Lloyd, The Authorised Biography’ and ‘Through the Covers. A Miscellany of Cricket Curiosities’, to name a few, there is something to cover every aspect of the game.
Rod encouraged everyone to come and sift through the titles, and with prices averaging $1 a book, what’s not to like?
“It would be a shame if they ended up in the recycling bin, which a lot of our books do,” he said.
The store has recently been given a revamp to encourage new customers into the store.
Rod invited anyone who hasn’t been in lately to pay the store a visit.
“There is this old misconception that Vinnies is just for poor people, but that is simply not the case anymore,” he said.
“A lot of people buy items to resell, which is completely fine by us, as long as they pay what we are asking.”
Run by volunteers, Ulladulla Vinnies is open six days a week from 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to noon on Saturdays.
