The under 10s had a loss this week to Batemans Bay, going down 8/103 to 6/120 at Burrill Lake.
Blake Halls (19) and Ryan Gilkes (15) were the standouts with bat, and they were backed up by Isaac King with seven.
Rhys Robertson (1/18), Jye Halls (1/14), Isaac (1/4) and Marcella Mansour (2/8) showed the way with the ball, Blake (0/2) topping off an incredible day for him.
In the Under 12s the Blues with 5/146 had an impressive win, bowling out North Nowra Whites for 51.
Dal Hall (2/9) and Jayden Granger (2/5) led the way with the ball.
With Drew Ramsden, Jay Ramsden, Thom Smith, Sam Stewart and Lachlan Barr all taking a wicket, it was a team effort in the field.
Sam, Thom, Jayden and Drew also took a catch each to clean up the Whites side.
Drew (17 n.o) Sam (12 n.o), Jay (12) and Lachlan (14) were the big contributors with the bat.
The under 12 Golds kept Berry to 6/105.
It was a team effort with the ball, but the wickets went to Riley Jarrett, Rueben Hatwell, and Antonio Capagreco.
In the field Alex Baccarini (one catch, one run out), Riley Jarrett (one catch, one run out) and Eli King (one run out) all starred.
Alex (17), Riley (15 n.o) and Jake Town (13 n.o) were the main scorers as Ulladulla cruised to the victory.
The 14s had a bye this round so got to watch on for once.
The under 16s had a nailbiter at Nowra High School and ran out winners in a close game against Nowra.
Ulladulla had no single player star with the bat, but the whole team contributed to a decent and competitive score.
Brad Field (37), Kyle Jarrett (27), Jared Smith (25) and Lleyton Roach (20) were the high scorers as Ulladulla racked up 10/167.
Nowra fell just short at 8/157 after Ben McCormack (3/35) showed his class.
One wicket to Max Eggins, Matt Gilkes and Rocky Lavalle meant the partnerships could not happen.
The fielding was sharp, with catches to Jared (2), Brad, Bethany Nielsen and Ethan Ford.
Two runouts to Rocky Lavalle and Max Eggins saw Nowra struggling to get the side home.
Ulladulla kept pressure at the end, and bowled tight to just take the victory.
THE Gilkes Electrical under 10s played their fifth game of the season on Saturday at Burrill Lake, against Batemans Bay.
Ulladulla bowled first with Blake Halls starting them off with an incredible 0/2. This is amazing accuracy at this age and then wicketkept like a champion.
This sort of bowling inspired fantastic catching from Mia Clough, and Marcella Mansour showed the way in the field with a runout.
Ulladulla were looking good.
Ryan Gilkes (0/20) and Dan Mansour (0/15) worked hard with the ball.
Rhys Robertson (1/18) continues to get wickets, and Bryce Smith (0/16) tried hard to build pressure.
Isaac King (1/4) has been dead on over the past few games and Mia (0/7) really made scoring a run very hard.
Ben (0/9) was on the spot, and the player of the day Marcella (2/8) had a game to remember.
Jye Halls (1/14) finished off the bowlers and did a great job to keep the Bay at 6/120.
Not too bad as the Bay are a good side, but was going to take some batting from us.
Bat is what we did, with Bryce and Blake scoring 24 for the first partnership.
An extra 17 was then put on by Mia and Marcella with some great shots. Jye and Ben then worked the ball around for 13 to keep us in the game. Both got some good bowling and had to work hard, which was certainly the case for Isaac and Rhys, who could only grab 12 runs due to the Bay really lifting with their accuracy and switching on in search of the win. It was going to take a big one from Ryan and Dan to get us home, and they did a marvellous job with 21 to get us within 21 of the Bay total.
A great result as the Bay are a good side, and take away a few too many wides from us, and we were fully in the game.
Well done guys and good luck next week, with so much improvement.
Bakers Delight player of the game was Marcella Mansour
THE Golds were back home at Milton Showground against Berry.
The outfield had been cut and was in excellent condition.
Berry won the toss and elected to bat first. The bowlers were instructed to keep the extras down to a minimum.
All bowlers were getting three overs each.
Jake Town (0/13) and Caleb Kersting (0/17) opened up.
The Berry openers started well and put together a good partnership.
Reily Hatwell (1/11) and Riley Jarrett (1/4) claimed a wicket each with Gus Boland and Alex Baccarini both taking regulation catches.
Sam England (0/13) and Eli King (0/10) both bowled with good control and helped by great fielding, the Golds managed to put pressure on Berry.
In the over before drinks, a smart piece of fielding from Eli resulted in a run out.
At the halfway stage Berry were 3/61, with their opener still at the crease.
Alex (0/4) and Gus (0/6) took up the attack, and with tight bowling, the run rate slowed to a crawl.
Another smart piece of fielding, Alex and Caleb combined for the next wicket with a run out.
Ben Ebzery (0/7) and AJ Capogreco (1/12) had the job of bowling at the death. AJ disturbed the timber work to claim his wicket.
With Berry chasing quick runs, another excellent piece of fielding saw Riley J. and Caleb make a run out off the last ball.
Berry 6/105 off 30 over was going to be a competitive score.
Alex (17) and Gus(3 ret) got us away to a great start.
Gus retired after eight overs with the score on 33.
Riley J (15 ret) joined Alex and they pushed the score along to 41, when we lost our first wicket.
AJ (2) came out and with some smart running. He and Riley reached 55 before AJ was caught in two minds and spooned a chance which was gleefully taken.
At drinks the Gold were 2/61 compared to Berry’s 3/61 at the same stage in their innings.
A close game was in the making.
Eli (9) hit a boundary as he and Riley started to get on top of the bowling.
Riley retired with 20 runs still to get.
Eli was unfortunately run out as they tried to push the score along.
Ben(4 n.o) and Jake (13 n.o) with three boundaries proceeded to knock off the rest of the runs as the Golds claimed victory with six overs remaining.
An excellent all round performances from all the boys resulted in the Golds claiming their first win of the season.
Times points: Alex Baccarini 3, AJ Capogreco 1, Jake Town 1,
Riley Jarrett 1.
THE under 16 side finished their third two-day game of the season against Nowra at Nowra High School Oval.
The previous week captain Matt won the toss and elected to bat and the team made 167 runs, so they would have their work cut out for them in the field.
Jared and Cody opened the bowling and did a great job, but it was first change Ben who snared the first wicket, brilliantly caught by Jared, and then the pocket rocket Rocky executed a fantastic runout and the score was 2/34.
Brad combined well with Ben and they slowed the run rate.
Kyle and Max were the next pair to bowl medium pace and Max made the breakthrough after another nice catch to Jared. Score 3/60.
One of the Nowra players was getting off the leash and playing some powerful shots and the bowlers had trouble containing him, but Ethan and Lleyton bowled off-spin in tandem for eight overs and did a great job. Ben came back on with Matt, who bowled with great pace, and snared the Nowra top scorer after a fine outfield catch from Ethan. Score 4/140 with the game in the balance.
Rocky was called upon to bowl his leggies, which he did with great control, and he picked up the next wicket, well caught by Bradley. Bethany bowled a tidy spell with him but when the captain reintroduced himself with four overs to go, he had immediate results with a beautiful ball bowling the batsmen.
Ben then chimed in with another wicket, well caught by Bethany.
Max completed the day with a great run out and the team had prevailed by 10 runs.
Pick of the bowlers was lionhearted Ben (10 overs, two maidens, 3/35) and he was well supported by Matt (five overs, 1/5), Jared (four overs, three maidens 0/2), Rocky (three overs, one maiden, 1/9) and Max (four overs, one maiden, 1/9). All the bowlers did a great job.
Thanks to Tory and Tony for umpiring and coaching and all the scorers for scoring, and Dave for his write-up.
This week’s words of wisdom from miyage san Greco is to keep your enthusiasm up in the field to support your bowlers and to keep talking and encouraging each other.
Also bowlers, work out your fields with the captain and try to bowl to them.
Remember to discuss which afternoon you want to switch training to after this week’s Friday session.
Cheers, and have a great week.
