The annual state-wide Operation Safe Arrival commenced on Friday December 19 and will continue until midnight on Sunday January 4, with double demerit points will be in effect from 12.01am Wednesday December 24 until 11.59pm on Sunday January 4.

The operation is aimed at heightening public awareness to the dangers of drink driving, fatigue, occupant restraints, distractions and speeding during the festive season and holiday periods.
Police will be out in force over this period and Shoalhaven Police number will be boosted with several operatives from the metropolitan Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.
So far, 18 people have been killed on Shoalhaven roads this year and Police will be taking a zero tolerance approach to traffic offenders over this period. We want all motorists be it local residents or tourists to travel safely especially over this period so that they can enjoy the Holiday season.
Already, drink drives have been caught behind the wheel as the holiday season get underway.
A Narrawallee man was caught driving while intoxicated with a child in his vehicle when he waspulled over for a random breath test at 9.20pm on Saturday December 20.
The 40-year-old male was driving his Toyota Prado south on the Princes Highway in Milton when he was stopped by police for a random breath test which positive.
The driver was arrested and taken to Ulladulla Police Station for a Breath Analysis which returned a reading of 0.050 grammes of alcohol in 210 litres of breath.
Was given a Court Attendance Notice for driving with a Low Range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA) and will attend Court at Milton in January 2015.
IN a separate incident police were called to the Marlin Hotel in Ulladulla in the early hours of Sunday morning when a woman refused to leave the premises.
At about 12:20am on Sunday December 21 police attended the hotel where a 23-year-old refused to obey security instructions to leave the premises.
Police assisted security when the woman commenced to scream and declined to leave the premises.
As police encouraged the woman to leave she refused and became aggressive and struck one of the officers.
The Mollymook woman appear in court for offensive language, failing to leave licensed premises when required and for assaulting Police.
Police have been busy over the weekend, investigating a break and enter at a home in Sunset Strip Manyana on Saturday December 20 where property was stolen and later recovered by police.
With the holiday season upon us, police are reminding the community to always ensure their belongings are secured, whether out and about or at home.
Secure handbags and wallets if you are out shopping
Don’t leave money or valuable items in unattended vehicles
Close and lock your car doors and windows when leaving your vehicle
Make safe and secure your home, when you are either inside it and or leaving it.
Closing and locking windows and doors, as well as garages, at these times can be a deterrent.
