Four little girls have become unofficial ambassadors for an Afternoon Teal ovarian cancer fundraiser in memory of their grandma Liz Brook.
Eight-year-old Claire Ridley and her cousins Tahlia, 7, Hannah, 5, and Teagen, 3, Brook will host the fundraiser with their help of their mums Angela and Bec Brook at the Milton Masonic Hall on February 1 from 2pm.
Angela said the girls were keen to raise awareness about ovarian cancer which took the life of their grandma almost four years ago.
“The girls are inviting people to help raise funds for an ovarian cancer detection test,” she said.
“It’s a difficult cancer to diagnose and the symptoms are often mistaken for menopause, pregnancy or other hormone related conditions.
“By the time mum was diagnosed, she already had stage four cancer.”
The Afternoon Teal will remember those lost to ovarian cancer and will raise awareness of the disease.
As well as a yummy afternoon tea, there will be lucky door prizes, raffle and a presentation by doctor Meike Flore about the hidden dangers of ovarian cancer.
People are encouraged wear the colour teal during the month of February.
Supporters are invited to attend the Afternoon Teal at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children.
