It was great to see so many come early to register their dogs, but there were still a few who did not realise that classes start right on 9am and announcements are made at 8.45am.
It would be appreciated if dog club members could adhere to this time slot so that officials can also take their own dogs into class.
Many thanks to all who helped out on this busy day back.
Welcome to Colleen Ringe who has offered her services as a class instructor, which is much appreciated as the Club is really short of instructors and instructor Rick Venning will not be able to attend regularly this year.
An invitation is extended to anyone else who may be interested.
Please see chief instructor Diane Richmond.
Advanced class instructor Natalie Moore is at present training for the 15-day 2167 kilometre Sydney to Hobart Variety Cycle Ride, which will raise funds for the Variety Club Children’s Charity to help sick children, an organisation that is close to her heart.
If you can assist Natalie with this fundraising you can find out more via Natalie’s Variety Bike Ride on Facebook or see her at dog training.
We wish her every success and admire her efforts so much.
The club has a busy time ahead with quite a lot of members competing in dog championship shows and others in flyball competitions.
Miton Show is on February 20 and 21 and there will not be any dog training held on Sunday, February 22 because it is clean-up day after the show.
The club’s demonstration team will be giving a performance on the Friday of the show at about 1.30pm after the grand parade and it is always a crowd pleaser, organised by Rick Venning.
New members are always welcome for the Demo team so see Rick if you are interested.
Your dog needs to be able to work off-lead.
Two demonstrations were held on the Australia Day weekend.
The first one was at Sussex Inlet’s Family Day and was held in soaring temperatures, which made it difficult for the handlers and their dogs. Many thanks for the following who turned up and did such a great job - Rick Venning who had organised the day with his dog Bindy, club chief instructor Diane Richmond with her dogs Lady and Rusty, Mark Wilden and his dog Rex, president Rosie Milton and her dogs Pac, Wizz, Dan The Man, Tazzi and Miki, who Liz Karasconyi took as her dog Rose was unable to take part as she was recovering from an operation, assistant chief instructor Jenny Patch with her dogs Billy and Pippa, Jenny Marshall with her dogs Rascal and Keeper, and Kylie White, who came from Canberra to join in with her dogs Ash and Zing.
Special thanks to Mark Wilden who always helps out with the transportation of equipment, which is no mean feat, and was at Mollymook on the Monday for the Lions Club Australia Day Celebrations again transporting all the equipment.
Club assistant secretary and quick start instructor Janet Smith compered both days and was her usual competent self.
Special thanks to her she is a wonderful ambassador for the club and has been doing this job for many years.
Club chief instructor Diane Richmond organised the demonstration at Mollymook and members who took part at Mollymook were Alison Nagle and her dog Georgie, Kylie White with Ash and Zing, Rosie Milton and her dogs and Natasha Backhouse and Busta, club secretary Belinda Smithers and her dog Kelly, who recently had a litter of four beautiful pups who all now have new homes.
Two of the dogs to take part who have just turned 12 months old were Diane’s Rusty, and Rosie’s Dan and did well with the large crowd of people watching, as did Alison’s dog Georgie, another young dog.
Diane and Alison attended Bungendore Breed Show recently and Alison’s dog Holly won best neuter in group and Holly’s daughter Livy was minor puppy in group winner while Diane’s Rusty won best of breed.
On the Saturday, February 21, in conjunction with Milton Show Society Inc, the MUDTA Fun Agility and Jumping Trial will be held in the agility ring and a lot of entries promises to be a good day’s entertainment sponsored by Eukanumba, starting at 9am.
Judge is Mrs Natalie Winter.
Annual subs are now due for current members and this year has been increased to $10 per annum.
If not paid by April 30, 2015 a members become un-financial.
Anyone wishing to re-join with the same dog within two years can apply for memberships at a cost of $15 with the option of paying an extra $15 for a club carry bag with all its goodies inside.
A reminder that the club does not have EFPTOS facilities available.
The club’s sound man Ken Terry retired in 2014 after over 10 years volunteering for dog club and a gift of appreciation was made at the club’s annual presentation day for all he has done for the club.
He is still our website manager, and is a wonderful asset to the club.
