Director Patti Yates said the cabaret performance raising money for local charities would this year feature plenty of new faces and a new energy to ensure an unforgettable level of entertainment.
There are several new singers including Maya Holstegge from local youth band Hard2Find, Rachel Tidbury who has been on stage with the Milton Follies and as part of the Illawarra Performing Arts Ensemble, Gabby Wakeling, Misty Sommerville and Leah Hart – the daughter of regular performer Helen Corson.
Patti said all would add to the level of entertainment on offer.
“They’re all good value kids, and they’re all very keen,” she said.
On top of the new talent of show, some performers of the past are returning.
The girl with the big voice, Lygiah Fowler, is back after an absence for a few years, and will lend her impressive vocals to the Alicia Keys song Girl On Fire.
The 39 songs performed in the show also include Burning Down the House, The Heat is On, Ride Like the Wind and an intricate performance overlaying the perennial favourite Singing In The Rain with the Rhianna hit Umbrella.
“That was very difficult,” Patti said.
She revealed it was achieved only through Rebecca Colley and Kristy Taylor taking separate groups and teaching the songs, before then merging them together.
The result “is really quite spectacular,” according to Patti.
There will also be “a special surprise” during a performance of It’s Raining Men that will be “quite fun”, according to Patti, while Gaven Dorrell will show hit rapping ability during Ice, Ice Baby.
There are also several new faces among the dance troupe, with only Jess Todeschini left from last year’s show, while Emily Quinn and Jordan Austin returning to the dance troupe after being absent for a few years, adding more experience to help balance the new dancers.
Dazzling new costumes have been made for the dancers, and all will go on show during the opening night on Thursday, May 7.
Tickets for the opening night are at the specially reduced price of $25 for the show only, with no dinner available.
The cabaret show continues on Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9, with a special matinee performance for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.
They continue the following week at the Milton Ulladulla ExServos Club on May 14, 15 and 16.
Tickets for the dinner and show are $55, show only $30, students concession for the show only is $15, and children under eight are free.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday at the ExServos Club.
Proceeds from the shows will be divided among four major charities – Marine rescue, the Milton Hospital Renal Unit, Jindelara and the Cancer Outpatient Appeal.
Smaller donations will also be made to the Milton Fire Brigade, Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club, Milton CWA, Sunflower House, Kioloa Marine Rescue, Kioloa Fire Brigade and Bawley Point Fire Brigade.
If there is money available some will also go to Budawang Special School, Milton Ulladulla Family Support, Davenport Cottage and Alkira Lodge.
