Since we could not fill the coach, we had invited members of the Parkinson’s Support Group for the ride.
After everybody had settled into their seats, we headed south to Mogo arriving on schedule.
Thanks to the organization of Nadine from the Zoo, Allan, a staff volunteer was already waiting for us. He then showed us around the animal enclosures.
His knowledge of the various animals was phenomenal and the fact that he knew of the different feeding times was a bonus.
As he led us from enclosure to enclosure we always arrived in time for the keepers talk and the feeding of the animals.
Monkeys, Tigers, Gibbons, Meerkats, Lions, Otters, Giraffes, White Lions and many, many more animals. The two hours we had given ourselves for the Zoo visit passed very quickly.
In the meantime a storm was brewing.
We had just arrived at the exit when the clouds burst and the rain came down.
After all these impressions and listening to the various talks, while negotiating the many paths on different grades with walking sticks, walkers and pushing a wheelchair it was time to relax back in the coach.
We lunched at Tomakin Sports and Social Club. Our thanks go to Sandy from the Club, for organizing everything.
The tables were ready, the staff expected us, it all worked like clockwork. The meals were nice followed by coffee and cake.
After boarding the coach again for the journey home we thought we could close our eyes a little, but no chance. Sean took the scenic road along the beach to Batemans Bay.
We all had a wonderful day of respite and relaxation while using the skills learned at therapy such as socializing, walking, sitting down, getting up, stepping up and down, eating, etc.
Our thanks must go to our local clubs for their generosity with a little extra help from Integrated Living Australia.
The Ulladulla Stroke Recovery Club will hold its April meeting on Friday, 17th of April at 10am in the Catholic Church Hall in Green Street. All welcome.
