Federal Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis, visited the new memorial on Thursday and said she was impressed by the work the club and the Milton Ulladulla RSL sub-branch had done to establish the memorial with the help of $15,000 from the federal government.
“It was a big vision project,” she said.
Sub-branch president Paul Warren thanked the federal government and the ExServos Club for funding the project, but said all three levels of government had played key roles in bringing the memorial to fruition.
Due to recent wet weather, carpet is being put over the freshly laid turf to make it easier for people to move around the site.
The club will also be open from 5am to allow people with mobility problems to sit on a balcony overlooking the memorial site.
State Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock, will officially open the memorial at 5.45am ahead of the dawn service at 6am on Saturday, April 25.
